Resources and technology platform of the Institute of Dynamic Research of the Academy of Medical Sciences

In order to fulfill the research support mission of the Institute, according to the functional positioning of the Institute, a series of platforms have been established to provide laboratory animal resources and technical services for the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and even the national medical research institutions. The platform services cover resource sharing, model creation, model diagnosis and analysis, and drug preclinical transformation. A systematic medical experimental animal science and technology service system has been formed.

 

1.Resource Center for Animal Models of Human Disease

In terms of experimental animal resources, the Institute has the world's largest resource of genetically diverse animal models for human diseases, genetically diverse animal models for immune-related diseases, and infectious diseases. As well as the third largest genetic engineering rat resource in the world, the only disease-susceptible animal resource of multi-species integration in China and the most systematic human disease animal model resource in China, the only human disease animal model resource database in China has been formed, and the human disease animal model resource Center of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences has been established.

2.Infectious disease experimental platform

 

An experimental platform for infectious diseases has been established to meet the needs of the prevention and control system of major and emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases in China. The platform integrates experimental animals and pathogen resources, and establishes the only three-dimensional comprehensive animal model technology platform for multi-species and multi-disease infectious diseases in China, including non-human primates, rodents and other characteristic species, through the systematization and standardization of infectious disease model development and analysis technology. It has played an important role in the outbreak of avian influenza, H1N1, hand, foot and mouth disease, H7N9 and other new infectious diseases since SARS. The application of animal model resources has evaluated the first H1N1 vaccine for the country, the first anti-H1N1 drug with independent intellectual property rights - Jinhua Qinggan Granule, and the first attenuated H7N9 vaccine in China. This has provided a guarantee for the country to enhance its epidemic prevention and control strategy.

3. Genetic engineering animal creation platform

 

The genetic engineering animal creation platform can use CRISIPR/Cas9 technology, ZFNs, TALON and other technologies to develop transgenic, gene knockout, gene knockout and other animal models of mice, rats and monkeys, and has the ability to develop 400 kinds of genetically engineered rat and mouse models every year, providing genetic engineering animal model creation services for more than 100 laboratories.

4.Experimental animal quality assurance platform

The institute has a national laboratory animal environmental quality testing center and has set up a laboratory animal quality assurance platform. The platform is a third-party testing laboratory that has passed the CMA certification of CNAS and the laboratory accreditation assessment of CNAS. It is mainly engaged in the testing of microbial, parasitic, genetic and environmental quality of laboratory animals, as well as the testing of clean environments and equipment such as clean rooms and operating rooms. It is one of the core laboratories of China's laboratory animal quality monitoring network.

 

5.Experimental pathological analysis platform

 

The institute has a national Laboratory animal Pathology Testing Center, and has set up an experimental pathology analysis platform, mainly engaged in experimental pathology diagnosis, analysis, filmmaking and other technical services, with a full set of advanced pathological filmmaking, diagnosis and analysis equipment. It provides pathological diagnosis, routine paraffin section, frozen section, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, histochemical staining, large tissue frozen section, bright field and fluorescent section scanning and other services, providing a strong support for drug development and scientific research. The platform has been engaged in toxicological and pathological evaluation for a long time, has GLP qualification and CNAS accreditation, and has established long-term cooperative relations with more than a dozen domestic research institutions. It can undertake the analysis of animal models of diseases and the pathological diagnosis and analysis of the pharmacodynamics, long-term toxicity, subacute toxicity, irritant and carcinogenesis experiments of traditional Chinese medicine, Western medicine, biological products, pesticides and food additives.
